Philip Thomas Psychotherapist
I am a very experienced psychoanalytic psychotherapist and I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy which is one of the main registration bodies for psychotherapists practising in Britain.
I am currently working in the NHS as a Principal Adult Psychotherapist and I also have a small private practice. In my post as a psychotherapist within an NHS Trust I work individually with adult patients, I also provide supervision to other psychotherapists within the Trust, and assess patients for their suitability for psychotherapy. In my private practice I work individually with patients over the age of eighteen.
I have more than twenty years’ experience of working within a variety of mental health settings and I qualified as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in January 2005 following six years of training. My training organisation is the Arbours Association of Psychotherapists (AAP).
Much of my work as a psychotherapist has been within therapeutic communities working with people with a range of severe and complex emotional and psychological difficulties but I have also worked with patients on an individual basis in hospital outpatient departments and in community settings as well as in private practice.
I fulfil the requirements of both the UKCP and AAP organisations with regard to Continuing Professional Development and I am fully insured to practice as a psychotherapist.
